With how the world is going right now it doesn't even surprise me that a vampire takes all your blood.......oh yeah and please make moooooooore.

NO

YES

Cool page update.

Still feels incredibly luck-based (is that bad? Is that good? Am I to blame?) but also I think I might know there's some mechanic to make it more likely that at certain stages bad card will likely spawn in middle or in row/column with the [ ] power. But I'm probably imagining it.

Maybe it'd balance it if passing would reveal remaining cards. But it might also ruin it....? Just thinking out loud.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'm in love with this game! I've come back for the third time to play it, I do find it difficult but I just got to the final level for the first time so I must be improving!

If you released this on other platforms with some more levels, different bosses or a longer end-game I would get it!

Made an account just to say that I'm addicted to this game; the mix of skill + luck is satisfying, as is the color palette!

One of the best card games that I played. I loved the game design, art, music and the theme. Congrats for the creativity

Have 1153 blood spend 1000 to buy into 100x bets
I have 153 blood

I play a 100x bet and lose the first 2 rounds and end up
500 in the negative and I start getting some nerves

win a round and stake the vampire the next
pass the last and win 1300 blood this game is the best

Great game. You should make a mobile version!

10/10 Game. A card game that masterfully combines skill and strategy.

I beat the game and let me tell ya, this is one of the best card games I have ever played. The tension, the thinking, the crushing despair, and the soaring jubilation. It might seem difficult for the first few go rounds, but stick with it. And I am certain I wouldn't have had such a blast if not for the superb atmosphere the graphics brings together, as well as the audio. That little jingle when it tells you just got the upper hand on the vampire is like music to my ears. Would recommend every day of the week and weekend.

I love the design of your page, I'm hooked on the game as well, I just wish I had more understanding of where the vampire might be lurking, so it doesn't feel like a stab in the dark, and that I understood the points system better

Super awesome game! The high stakes made the last level feel like something strait out of Kaiji. Nice work man!

Zawa Zawa~

Awesome :)

I was here B-)

Congratulations! You did it!

how do you get this?? i've unlocked all the levels but it keeps playing :0

try reaching 5000mL :^

This is a really cool game!

For the record, having played quite a few rounds, I really like the pure randomness of it. It adds an interesting tradeoff, knowing that I can play perfectly and lose: how much do I save up before buying into the next table? It doesn't seem too hard and if I play my cards right the odds favor me, but the house never goes bankrupt and I only have my own limited supply of milliliters ... so how far should I push things?

It's a nice strategic element and feeling like the game is playing fair with me is part of that.

So addictive. So punishing. So red. Virtual Boy vibes. I love every pixel.

(+1)

Beautiful work.

Got the vampire card on the first turn 3 times on the last level, and had all of my progress wiped. Lives systems were created for arcade games to extort their players for cash, and they should have died long ago.

That is understandably frustrating. What happened in the other 2 rounds?

(1 edit)

Is it correct to assume that on all or nothing rounds

You can't pass?
edit: i was right

(+1)

Indeed

Highly addictive! Can't get enough of that floaty UI <3

Dear Krystman, I have played this game for about a week now, and I absolutely adore it. I keep coming back to beat it again. I truly believe that if you were to port it to mobile, or even make a "full" version and charge money for it, you would get a large audience.

(+1)

Heheh. Thank you, I'm happy to hear you like it. I am indeed thinking about a potential follow-up.

This is a really cool game, but I would like to have more ways to actually narrow down the vampire's location. Even if all the tiles are flipped but 2, and there is a [8+] and [9+], you have a 50% chance of guessing right. The [+] and [<>] tokens rarely seemed to actually help me, since they typically only reveal concrete information excluding lower cards, and still leaving everything as a possible vampire. I would like to see maybe [-] tokens, or maybe some information about the entire row/column like a sum or an 'at least x in this row'. This is a cool gambling game, but it seems like the odds are definitively against the player, and the player has no tools to overcome those odds. I feel like this is more of a vampire coin flipping game and I would love to see it be more like vampire soduko, with betting. Really excited to see progress on this.

Thank you for your feedback, Rob. I totally get where you are coming from. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be much of a gambling game if there was a way to reliably determine vampire cards. It's just not that kind of game.

I will say that the chances are more in your favor than you make them out to be. For example, you can always chose not to gamble on a high-stakes turn. You can simply pass and still walk away with a solid sum.

I'm absolutely hooked. I do wish the music loop during rounds was longer, and I'd love infinite mode.

Also, last round I encountered the Monty Hall Problem, recognized it for what it was, and lost regardless. I'm not even mad.

(+2)

LOL, Infinite Mode coming up!

I love what you've done with the place

(+2)

DAMN IT IVE BEEN WORKING ON AN IRL CARD GAME THATS ALMOST THE EXACT SAME NAME AND ALL :(((( IM SO SAD I THOUGHT MY IDEA WAS ORIGINALLLLLL

(+3)

Great minds ...

This was really rad and surprisingly exciting on those big 50/50 gambles. The 2x2 hint feels very strong compared to the other as it basically means you can always profit using a pass.

(+3)

I really like this game, but I wish that the 2x2 hint didn't always maximize the number of hidden squares it covers.

(1 edit) (+2)

Great aesthetics, and very fun.

My one complaint: Would be nice if it mentioned the ability to pass in the description. Using that made the game feel so much more fair and interesting, and I almost missed that it existed at all.

(+2)

I will add that, thanks!

Thank you I would have dropped this game if I didn't see the pass mechanic in the discription

Great gameplay, and I love the feel of the game.

The title image seems appropriate to the difficulty of the game and the symbolic irony of trying to beat a bloodsucker by wit or luck. You have to stake them in the heart because they should always outwit you. Either way, I'm terrible at cards and this is a very pretty game. Excellent work so far.

(+1)

It's not a problem if your winning.

(+1)

Is there a pattern, I feel very anxious when I'm about to pull the vampire card, and the feeling doesn't happen with the number cards. It might just be a coincidence.

(+1)

Getting a vampire in the first couple of moves always feels a bit unfair, especially when it happens a few times in a row. Unless I'm misunderstanding the gameplay, there's nothing deductive you can do until you've filled out a column/row to get a hint.

I wonder if there's anything that could be done to give the player the occasional small edge in that scenario. For instance, perhaps a random unused hint could carry over into the next round? Or perhaps a parallel progression system/shop could let you trade some blood to tilt the odds gently towards you? (Roulette Knight does this pretty well)

Maybe early vampires just move out of the way (reshuffle) on the second move.

(+2)(-1)

Getting a vampire early sucks but also the stakes are extremely low, you don't lose a lot.

"There's nothing deductive you can do" thaaaaaaaaaaat's gambling! Welcome to Las Vegas 2024 baby

(+1)

I agree. I'm planning on giving more hints for the first turns. Thanks for the tip, I will Roulette Knight a go!

always love seeing stuff done in pico8, very rad game! kinda reminds me of the card flipping minigame in the johto pokemon games

Congrats, this was a great ideia! Art and sound also really great. Died on the first game after getting to the last vampire, unlucky... XD

If you get bad luck, much rage is to be had.

But if not, this is awesome!

Only realized the benefits of passing and early staking  after recording the video. Glad I got lucky anyways!

Also the game description is perfectly concise!!!

As is the reverse punnification of the title...

Thank you for playing my game Ivan. You captured a fantastic playthrough there!

(+1)

I love this interpretation of my cart design so much! The core hook of winning back your blood from vampires through gambling is so perfect, and these mechanics work so well together. I love narrowing things down and then feeling the thrill of deciding whether or not to use the stake. It all works so well! Thank you for making this!!

That was a really fun and difficult game (didn't help that I for some reason forgot how greater than lesser than worked lol) keep up the good work.

(1 edit)

I'm loving these colors...beautifully polished interface.  Excellent incarnation of the Famicase cart.

(1 edit)

Excellent as always! You always put together such nice games.
